The Four Developer Strengths Breakdown

• 10 Volume (3% / Vol-10):

  • Best Used For: Tone-on-tone coloring, darkening hair, or depositing color onto pre-lightened hair. It offers minimal to no lift and is the gentlest on the hair structure.

• 20 Volume (6% / Vol-20):

  • Best Used For: Standard gray hair coverage and standard permanent hair coloring. It lifts the hair by 1 to 2 levels and is ideal for on-scalp applications.

• 30 Volume (9% / Vol-30):

  • Best Used For: Vibrant hair color transformations and standard bleaching/streaking routines. It provides 2 to 3 levels of lift and should be monitored closely.

• 40 Volume (12% / Vol-40):

  • Best Used For: Maximum lift, high-blonde shades, and lifting very dark virgin hair by 3 to 4 levels. Note: Due to its extreme strength, it should never be used directly on the scalp or on highly fragile, damaged hair.
