Step-by-Step Guide: How to Use Cold Wax Strips

Cold wax strips are incredibly convenient because they require no heating appliances or messy spatulas. Just follow the “Rub, Peel, & Go” method outlined on the box:

1. Prep the Skin

• Ensure the skin is completely clean, dry, and free of oils, lotions, or sweat.

• Pro-tip: Dust a tiny amount of baby powder or cornstarch onto the area before waxing. This absorbs excess moisture and ensures the wax grips the hair, not your skin.

2. Activate the Wax

• Take a double-sided strip and rub it briskly between your palms for about 10 to 15 seconds. The friction creates gentle heat, warming up the wax so it becomes pliable and sticky.

3. Peel Apart

• Slowly peel the two strips apart using the easy-grip tabs. You now have two usable strips. Set one aside face-up while you use the first one.

4. Apply & Smooth

• Place the strip onto the target area.

• Smooth it down firmly in the direction of hair growth a few times to ensure the wax firmly adheres to the hairs.

5. The Pull (Crucial for minimizing pain)

• Hold your skin taut with one hand right below the strip. This prevents the skin from pulling upward and reduces bruising.

• With your other hand, grip the tab and pull the strip back swiftly in one quick motion, against the direction of hair growth.

• Note: Pull the strip back parallel and close to the skin, rather than pulling it straight up into the air (which causes pain and snaps the hairs instead of pulling them from the root).

6. Clean Up

• Never wash wax residue off with water—cold wax is oil-soluble. Use a post-wax wipe (if included) or a cotton pad soaked in baby oil, coconut oil, or olive oil to easily dissolve any leftover stickiness.
